Roland Murphy began his watchmaking journey at Bowman Technical School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Eager to further his expertise, he continued his training at the prestigious WOSTEP program in Neuchâtel, Switzerland—a center of traditional watchmaking. Murphy began his professional career in 1987 at Hamilton Watch Company, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become Technical Director of Product Development. Driven by a passion for American craftsmanship, he founded RGM Watch Co. in 1992 in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania. In 2007, RGM achieved a historic milestone by introducing the first high-end mechanical movement to be mass-produced in the United States since 1969—reviving a proud American watchmaking tradition and positioning RGM as a major player in the contemporary renaissance of domestic watchmaking.
