The watchmaker's story
Art and mechanics have always been his passions. The son of a cabinetmaker, Jean Khatchadourian grew up in an environment where creativity was omnipresent. Music, painting, mechanics—creation has always been a means of expression for him. At 16, he discovered watchmaking, where he perceived the perfect union of art and technology. This dream became a reality at 19, when he decided to dedicate himself to it fully.
He first completed a vocational training certificate (CAP) in watchmaking and jewelry at the Lycée Edgar Faure (2022–2023), then continued with a vocational arts diploma (Brevet des Métiers d'Art) at the same institution (2023–2025). In parallel, he gained experience through apprenticeships: first at Utinam in Besançon, then at Joaillerie Vaneste in Lille.
As part of his degree project, he designed a watch with a required complication: a 24-hour day/night display with semi-instantaneous hour jumps. This is how the Jean Khatchadourian Grand Large was born. Inspired by the world of yachting, which shares with watchmaking the pursuit of perfection and a love of detail, this timepiece embodies travel, precision, and timeless elegance.
